Fate
Do you believe in it?
A couple of weeks ago on a Friday evening a good friend and I had ventured out into the nightlife. As last call was in order I ran into a nightclub owner who is also a personal friend. He then proceeded to introduce to me one of his former (very cute) female employees along with two of her (very cute) friends. As luck would have it the three girls, club owner, and my friend end up back at his yacht on the marina to have a few cocktails and mingle with what were the three cutest girls we eyed all evening. Night continued into the early morning hours and the girls found their way back into town and eventually home.
For some reason I never did get any of their cell phone numbers that night.
The next week I’m back out on the town with another friend of mine. As I left my favorite tavern I felt a tap on my shoulder, I then turned around. It was one of the three girls from that night on the yacht. She said, “Do you remember me from last week?” I said back to her, ”Of course, how could I forget!”
Was it fate?
We finally exchanged numbers and over the course of the next couple of weeks I found myself spending time with this amazing girl out on the town and at a baseball game chatting about life, love, and of course how we could possibly believe in fate. Especially since so much in life is superficial.
She told me she questioned it at times and I agreed. I did mention that it must have been in fate’s best interest that had us cross paths a second time that allowed for an exchange of each other’s cell phone number.
Needless to say we have become good friends and also agreed that we were meant to meet. We aren’t really sure why, but we know there is a purpose in it all. We did find so much in common about our outlook on life, and our future goals.
Tonight as I was out for my nightly jog it had me thinking about how she and I met. It was purely out of fate.
Or was it?
That left me with one option- to challenge fate. That’s right- you heard correct! I’m going to play a game with good old fate. How you ask? Every potential girl I meet I will not request her number or her MySpace profile URL. Rather, I will ask her if she believes in fate. If she says, yes, then I’ll tell her if we were meant to know each other then fate will allow it to be, and I’ll leave it at that. I’m only able to ask for a cell phone number upon a second meeting.
If it happened once then it should happen again.
Right?
That’s of course if you believe in fate.
And maybe I do.
